The Hamilton Township Police Department is encouraging residents to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day tomorrow, Oct. 23, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.Hamilton Township Police announced through Facebook that people can properly dispose of expired, unwanted or unused medicine at the police department Saturday.The Drug Enforcement Administration started Take Back Day to give Americans the opportunity to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths, according to the Take Back Day website. The 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019.Anyone who wants to dispose of unwanted medicine can do so safely and anonymously at a Take Back Day collection site.
