Nate Diaz has a fellow fan favorite in his sights.

The welterweight star tweeted out an image of former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson on Friday, possibly hinting at a future clash between the two.

Though Diaz’s tweet did not come with a caption, the image alone drew an immediate reaction from several fighters on social media including longtime Diaz rival Conor McGregor, who tweeted and deleted the following:

McGregor and Diaz have their own lengthy history, which includes splitting a pair of fights that took place at UFC 196 and UFC 202, two of the most successful pay-per-view events in company history. A trilogy bout has long been discussed, though McGregor’s competitive status is unknown as he recovers from a broken leg he suffered in his most recent fight against Dustin Poirier in July.

The bad blood between Diaz and Ferguson is nothing new either.

In April, Ferguson tweeted that Diaz is “my b*tch,” reigniting a beef that dated back to 2017 when Diaz claimed that the UFC was pressuring him to fight “El Cucuy.” For his part, Ferguson has recently been calling for a fight with McGregor rather than Diaz.

A matchup between Diaz and Ferguson could be a boon for both of their careers, with Diaz having suffered back-to-back losses and Ferguson currently on a three-fight losing streak.
