Flooding, debris close South Market Street Friday morning

8:30 a.m. update:

Redding Police Department said the northbound lanes of South Market street are now open. The southbound lanes remain closed while flooding debris is removed.

Flooding Friday morning closed roads in Redding.
Just after 4 a.m., several inches of water flooded South Market Street between Wyndham Lane to Buenaventura Boulevard. Redding police closed the road and had to assist several drivers whose vehicles stalled in the floodwaters.
As of 7:30 a.m., the water had subsided, but South Market Street remained closed until crews can clear debris from the road.
