The bus was carrying four middle school students when it hit a student walking in the 900 block of Old Harrisburg Road, the school district said in a message on its Facebook page.

The student, whose age and grade were not immediately released, was flown to Hershey Medical Center, the Gettysburg Fire Department said.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

“GASD staff also immediately contacted the families whose children were on the bus at the time of the accident. The accident is being investigated by the appropriate authorities. Our main focus is on the well-being of the injured student and their family,” the district wrote.

According to the Gettysburg Times, Old Harrisburg Road was closed in the area until 10 a.m.
