BTS’ hit single “Permission to Dance” is already off to a quick start on Billboard’s charts, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts in July, and now is has more reason to celebrate: it led the inaugural Hot Trending Songs charts, powered by Twitter and sponsored by Remy Martin, over the past 24 hours and seven days, as the charts went live at noon ET Friday (Oct. 22).
Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs charts, powered by Twitter, track global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days. A weekly version of the chart—covering activity from Friday to Thursday of each week—will also post alongside Billboard’s other weekly charts on Billboard.com. The charts will highlight buzz around new releases, award shows, festival moments, music nostalgia and more. The chart is unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to.
“Permission to Dance,” released on HYBE/BigHit Music/Columbia Records, led both rankings as the charts went live with 1.1 million Twitter mentions over the past seven days, and 231,000 mentions over the past 24 hours.
Among other tracks competing for No. 1 on the Hot Trending Songs charts, BLACKPINK’s LISA is off to a fast start with her two debut solo singles “Money” and “Lalisa.”
“Money” also debuted at No. 49 on the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (dated Oct. 23) with 4.8 million U.S. streams (up 27%) and 1,300 downloads sold (up 34%), according to MRC Data. The song’s profile was boosted following an “exclusive performance video” on YouTube that was released on Sept. 23, and has since racked up over 150 million views on YouTube. Further, she released a dance practice video for the song on Oct. 20, and it has tallied over 25 million views on the platform to date.
“Lalisa” debuted and peaked at No. 84 on the Hot 100 in September, becoming her first solo entry to reach the chart.
Other tracks making noise on Hot Trending Songs include Coldplay and BTS’ former Hot 100 No. 1 “My Universe,” aespa’s “Savage,” ENHYPEN’s “Tamed-Dashed” and Adele’s “Easy On Me.”
