Ben Simmons met with 76ers, 'not mentally ready to play yet'

Ben Simmons reportedly met with Doc Rivers and the entire 76ers team today, "accepted that everyone needs to take responsibility, but informed the team that mentally he's not ready to play yet, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Tobias Harris, essentially, confirmed the report as he quote tweeted Charania's tweet with the response: "And we’ll respect his privacy and space during this time. When he’s ready, we will embrace our brother with love and handle our business on the court. That's it, that's all."

After showing up to the practice facility yesterday and reportedly claiming back tightness, Simmons skipped an individual workout and left.

Simmons, 25, was suspended for the team's season opener in New Orleans, which they won easily. The Sixers open their home slate tonight against the Nets.
