Chicago Blackhawks: Okay, where is the panic button at?

The Chicago Blackhawks are 0-4-1, with a point in the first five games of the regular season.

The Chicago Blackhawks have not had a lead through the first five games of the season, and have not won a game just yet. So my question is, where is the panic button?

This team has not had the start they were looking for, and there is still hope that they can figure it out and get back on track, but at the end of the day the goals are not coming, and the defense looks the same despite the new names in the locker room.

Calm in the face off battle, that seems to be the vibe the Blackhawks are sending off after games right now despite the negative results on the ice. They are looking for small victories, a good period or some good chances are what the team is focusing on.

Last game was their best effort, and yet the team still found another loss against a team they needed to compete against in the Vancouver Canucks. So what happens now? What is the panic button going to change if this losing streak continues here is my best guess.

A Change On The Coaching Staff

Stan Bowman did his job this offseason making the Blackhawks more competitive on paper. The additions of the Jones brothers, Fleury, Johnson, and many others made the team more competitive, the ball is in the coaching staffs corner now.

Teams in the past have done relatively well with coaching changes, I know the obvious example is St. Louis in 2019, and there is something to be said with starting fresh with someone else. While Colliton hasn’t lost the team yet when it comes to interviews, there is something to be said with how the team is responding to some moments in game.

The Hawks are spiralling after giving up a goal or two, and at times they are not all in on the coverage in the defensive zone. While nothing can be directly contributed to the coaching staffs fault as they are not the ones playing the game, they do play a role.

The panic button result has to be moving on from the current coaching staff and trying something new, even if it is just Marc Crawford taking on a bigger role for the season and then finding a more permanent coach in the offseason.

I know it has been said a lot that something needs to change, but I just want to back up that notation today. The Hawks need to hit the panic button if they don’t start winning games soon. That panic button cannot be a big player getting traded or moving on from the general manager or something like that, ideally it needs to be moving on from the coaching staff and bringing in someone else to right the ship.
