  • In the midst of a continuing pandemic, our community is still connected and providing care in many ways

Los Alamos JJAB Executive Director Lisa Zuhn and LAPS Healthy Schools Program Director Kristine Coblentz recently invited Los Alamos’ therapists, school counselors, resource specialists and community providers to a “Meet and Greet” to re-connect with one another.

The primary goal was to share contact information and experiences in order to support one another and strengthen our community of care.

These 40 participants gathered on the patio at Fuller Lodge Tuesday, Oct. 5 and had conversation around emerging gaps, existing strengths, and how we can take our partnerships to the next level to benefit our community’s youth and families.

In this continuing pandemic we all are dealing with struggles we never imagined and we are weary. We can do much better when we work together. We can remember that “Asking for help does not mean that we are weak or incompetent. It usually indicates an advanced level of honesty and intelligence.” –Anne Wilson Schaef.

For resources for you or your family and friends, please consider talking to counselors and staff at your child’s school, learn about the many services JJAB’s resource specialists offer, and find out how to access the services available at the Health Commons by Las Clinicas Del Norte and the NM Department of Health. The Health Commons is located in Los Alamos at 1183 Diamond Drive and is open weekdays Monday through Friday.

Each one of us has the power to make a difference in someone’s life. We are stronger together.
