Dolphins head coach on Deshaun Watson rumors: 'Tua is our quarterback'

Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores seemed to throw cold water on the trade rumors that have been flying surrounding second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and embattled Houston Texans signal-caller Deshaun Watson on Friday morning.

The Nov. 2 NFL trade deadline is less than two weeks away, and with multiple reports this week pointing to a possible Watson-Dolphins trade in the works, Flores was quick to give his endorsement of the Fins' current man under center. Since defeating the New England Patriots in week one, Miami has lost five in a row heading into their Week 7 meeting against the Atlanta Falcons.

Tagovailoa, who the Dolphins selected fifth overall in the 2020 NFL draft, missed weeks three, four and five after fracturing his ribs. He played in just 10 games last season.

Though he's one of the supreme quarterback talents with a trio of Pro Bowl nods in four professional seasons to his credit, Watson is currently facing 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct and 10 criminal complaints. The 26-year-old has not played yet this season.

CBS Sports HQ's Josina Anderson reported in September that the Texans wanted three first-round picks and "additional assets" in exchange for Watson.

Houston police are continuing to investigate the case and Watson has yet to be suspended or made otherwise ineligible to play via the commissioner's exempt list.
