New Personal Finance App Provider Ranking is Full of Little Surprises

personal finance

Personal finances are personal. It’s nobody’s business. Just you and your money.

That’s the magic of capitalism at work. It’s something to see, and so we track it ardently here with the PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Personal Finance Apps.

This is one of those rankings that goes for stretches of time with few changes, then suddenly, everybody’s shifting a spot, rising or falling as the case may be.

It’s all quite personal, as we said. But we’ll give you the blow-by-blow anyway.

The Top 5

To start things off on a note of stability, Chime Mobile Banking keeps its seat at No. 1.

Likewise, the Robinhood app sticks at No. 2 after its amazing rise this year.

Now come those changes we talked about, starting at No. 3 where we now find the Stash app up a spot from last cycle. That pushes steady performer Current down one chart position to No. 4 this month but staying in the Top 5. We must keep our priorities straight.

New to the Top 5 at No. 5 it’s the amazing Albert Save And Spend Smarter app, up a spot and making it to the big time. Welcome. We’ve been expecting you. Dinner’s in the oven.

The Top 10

Dropping a spot to No. 6 this month we’ve got the Acorns Invest Spare Change app, falling out of the Top 5, but by no means counted out. We’re keeping an eye on this one.

Coming out of the blue to reenter the Provider Ranking of Personal Finance Apps it’s the Emma Budget Manager app at No. 7 with its cute logo that looks like a purple gummy bear.

No change for the myWisely Financial Wellness app, holding down the No. 8 spot with ease.

There’s a tie at No. 9 which isn’t unusual, but we still weren’t expecting it. This time it’s the Fidelity Investments app which was already so-ranked, now joined at No. 9 by Mint Personal Finance & Money tumbling two chart positions since last cycle.

Keeping No. 10 for another month it’s the Empower app, which rises and falls yet never seems to leave the rarified air of the Provider Rankings. Guess they like it here. As they should.
