The bitter reality of the positions the Yankees most need to upgrade

During his State of the Yankees address this week, general manager Brian Cashman pointed to three positions he expected to have to at least explore upgrading this offseason: shortstop, catcher and center field.

Certainly, there will be other parts of the roster addressed, such as adding another starting pitcher — or two — and figuring out first base.

But those are the three positions Cashman chose to single out, and it’s hard to find three more important spots on the field.
