Police in Taylorsville arrested a 30-year-old man after they located a stolen car that then sped away from them.

Officers found the occupied stolen car at approximately 12:48 a.m.

They followed the car and were forced to use spikes in an attempt to stop it.

Bennett said the spikes flattened three of the four tires. The flattened tires kept chase speeds low, approximately 10 to 15 miles per hour, throughout the pursuit.

The driver "drove in circles" in a neighborhood and, according to police, appeared to be looking for an opportunity to run on foot.

Eventually, the driver came to a stop and was seen "reaching around frantically."

The suspect was told by police to show his hands snd stop what he was doing but did not listen to commands.

A K-9 unit was later used to take down the suspect. He was transported to the hospital with minor dog-bite-related injuries and has since been booked into jail.

Later, bullet casings were located inside the car but police did not find a gun.

The entire chase lasted from 12:48 a.m. to 12:55 a.m. and went from 3600 S. 3200 West to about 3100 S. 2910 West.
