SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol says a man was hit and killed by a train Thursday night in Sumter County.
It happened on East Noble Avenue at Market Street just before 11 p.m.
Troopers say a 62-year-old man's 2009 Ford Explorer broke down on railroad tracks.
The man got out of the car in an attempt to move it off of the tracks when a southbound train came barreling through and hit him, according to FHP.
The man died at the scene of the crash.
