Wale released his new album Folarin 2 at midnight on Friday (October 22), complete with appearances from J. Cole, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, Boyz II Men, Maxo Kream and more.

One guest feature that appears to have missed the cut, however, is Freddie Gibbs — and the ESGN rapper wasn’t too pleased about it.

After Wale unveiled the official Folarin 2 tracklist ahead of the album’s release on Thursday night (October 21), Gangsta Gibbs took to Twitter to question why his name was nowhere to be seen.

“Go get @wale new album tonight even tho he took me off it,” Gibbs claimed. “I guess the n-gga gon put me on the deluxe.”

He followed up with, “I guess imma be on Folarin 3 @wale,” along with a shrug emoji.

It didn’t take long for Wale to respond to Freddie’s tweets. According to the MMG rapper, Gibbs was “lying” and the real reason their collaboration didn’t make the album is because producer Mark Ronson hasn’t yet cleared the sample.

Ronson is also apparently pushing for a full-length project between Wale and Freddie Gibbs, who the D.C. native called a “Twitter honey” in his reply.

“Gibbs be lying,” Wale wrote back. “@MarkRonson ain’t clear it yet. But also mark want us to do a project together. But FG would rather be a Twitter honey., crazy.”

Wale then spent the next couple of hours squabbling with Freddie Gibbs’ fans (who he called “weird n-ggas”) on Twitter while promoting his new album.

In response to one fan who suggested he took Gibbs off Folarin 2 to avoid being murdered on his own shit (word to Nas), Wale rebutted, “He can’t body me. @FreddieGibbs one of the best on the planet but he know what I do too.”

Even Mark Ronson joined the fray by joking, “I haven’t been this relevant in years….also @Wale album is [fire emojis].”

In the end, it appears Freddie Gibbs still has love for Wale, who he’s previously praised as a “genius.” “I [love heart emoji] Wale,” he later tweeted.

Wale, seemingly still annoyed at Gibbs, replied with a bemused monocle emoji. It remains unclear where (if anywhere) the pair’s collaboration will land.

This isn’t the fist time Freddie Gibbs has trolled Wale on social media. Back in February, the Alfredo rapper clowned Folarin for rocking “a Negro League fitted” during a recording session together.

The pair also hit the studio last December — footage from which Wale shared on his Instagram Stories at the time.

Freddie Gibbs might be challenging Wale in the Album of the Year race with his forthcoming project SSS (short for Soul Sold Separately).

Gibbs has teased collaborations with heavyweight producers including Metro Boomin, Pharrell, Mike WiLL Made-It, Hit-Boy, The Alchemist and his Bandana and Piñata compadre Madlib, lending weight to his claim that it’s “probably going to be the best album I did.”
