The Pella High football team is in a win-and-in situation tonight as they close out the regular season at Cedar Rapids Washington.

The top two teams in each of the six class 4A districts automatically qualify for the 16-team playoffs, with the other four spots going to at-large teams based on RPI.  If the Dutch win tonight’s game, they’re in as the runner-up in the district.  A loss brings RPI into the picture and puts Pella squarely on the bubble.

Coach Jay McKinstrey has led 15 straight Dutch teams into the postseason, and he says that his guys know what’s at stake tonight.

“This is the seniors’ last regular season game.  We did some things this week to commemorate their time here and some of the traditions that we have.  So it’s been a pretty neat week for the kids, but you can tell that they’re ready to play tonight and they know what’s on the line.”

Kickoff is tonight at 7:30 at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids.  Trevor Castle and Randy Sikkema will hit the air for pregame coverage at 6:30 on 92.1 KRLS.
