Viral video of ‘world’s biggest snake’ being lifted out of rainforest leaves viewers shocked

A TikToker has managed to capture the astonishing moment the “world’s biggest snake” was lifted out of the rainforest by a digger in Dominica - leaving viewers stunned.

(So if you have Ophidiophobia, you might want to look away...)

With the reptile being at least 10ft long in length, the footage shows the snake being lifted in the claws of the digger at a height but incredibly is still almost able to touch the floor.

When the snake was pulled out, it was still alive as it could visibly be seen slithering around in the claw (and perhaps is wondering what’s going on).

Of course, the sheer size of the creature shocked an onlooker who couldn’t quite believe what was unfolding in front of his eyes and can be heard saying “my mother, what.”

It seems workers made this huge discovery while clearing part of the Dominica rainforest.

Since TikToker @fakrulazwa shared the clip, it quickly went viral and now has a staggering 81.5m views.

In a follow-up video, the digger picking up the snake can be seen from another angle and the clip then cuts to rescuers struggling to bundle the massive creature in the boot of a car.

(With a huge snake as your travel companion, it’s definitely not a car journey most would like to take, we imagine.)

Due to the sheer size of the creature, it takes the effort of three men to attempt to move the snake - and it appears they were struggling to get all of the snake in there properly.

While the specific species of the snake is not detailed in the videos, but the Caribbean Islands are home to the deadly boa constrictor.

This would make sense because this particular species can match the size of the snake that was found and grow up to 13ft.

The largest snakes in the world belong to the python and boa families, according to the Natural History Museum. The biggest family depends on whether you are measuring these reptiles by weight or length.

The reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is the longest snake in the world, regularly reaching over 6.25 metres in length.

People took to the comments in this TikTok video and also to Reddit to share their shock at the size of the snake, with some predicting that it’s the world’s largest snake

One person wrote: “Wow ah big snake or dinosaur.”

“That looks like some world record s**t,” another person said.

Someone else recalled: “I can verify that Dominica has gigantic snakes.. I went to school there and once on the way to the airport, the shuttle I was in encountered a snake in the middle of the road that when stretched out covered the entire width of the road.. biggest snake I had ever seen.”

“There’s snakes out there this big??” A fourth person asked, unable to believe snakes could grow to that size.
