The Blackhawks early-season struggles continued on Thursday night, falling to the Vancouver Canucks at home, 4-1.
Alex DeBrincat scored the lone goal for the home team, a power-play tally in the opening frame, and Kevin Lankinen made 21 stops in his second start of the year.

1st - 6:34 - Jason Dickinson (Matthew Highmore, Nils Hoglander)

Shortly after the Blackhawks killed off the game's opening penalty, Vancouver found twine to take a 1-0 lead. Former Blackhawk Matthew Highmore chased down a puck behind the Blackhawks net, found Nils Hoglander in the corner and got a pass right back before hitting Jason Dickinson at the top of the circle for a one-time bid. Dickinson's shot beat Kevin Lankinen for the opening advantage.

1st - 9:26 - Alex DeBrincat (Patrick Kane, Seth Jones) - PP

Chicago answered a short time later on its first power play of the game as Alex DeBrincat notched his second of the year. Seth Jones found pregame celebrant Patrick Kane inside the blue line, who feathered a pass across the zone through three Canuck penalty killers to the stick of DeBrincat for a top-shelf wrister in the opposite corner to even the game, 1-1.

2nd - 9:55 - Tanner Pearson (Quinn Hughes, Conor Garland)

The tied score remained for just over 20 minutes until Tanner Pearson found the back of the net near the middle of the game with a tip in front. Quinn Hughes walked the blue line with the puck and put a wrister towards goal that Pearson deflected to the bottom corner for a 2-1 lead.

2nd - 18:21 - Brock Boeser (Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller)

The Canucks struck on a power play of their own late in the second period during a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage. After moving it around the zone, hit Brock Boeser at the side of the cage with a cross-ice feed. Kevin Lankinen made a sprawling pad save on the first chance by Boeser in tight, but the winger followed up his own rebound to make it a 3-1 game.
