UPDATE, OCTOBER 22, 3:42 PM:
The crashed plane, spotted near Bradley Peak in southern Siskiyou County Friday morning, was confirmed to be the crash site of the missing Orland pilot, William Bushling.
According to a Facebook post by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, a body at the site was positively identified as William Bushling.
"His family has been notified. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," they wrote.
William was first reported missing on Wednesday evening, October 20, when he never returned to his home in Orland, CA, from an airport in Ashland, OR.
UPDATE, OCTOBER 22, 11:02 AM:
According to a Facebook post by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report that a man believes he's found William Bushling's black Cessna in the Bradley Peak area.
They said their search and rescue units are accessing the area where the plane was spotted.
REPORT, OCTOBER 21:
A pilot, flying from Ashland, OR, never arrived at his destination in Orland, CA, on Wednesday night, prompting a search from multiple Northstate agencies and search and rescue crews.
According to the Glenn County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), an Orland man, named William Bushling, and his black Cessna 150 airplane—tail number N5268Q—are missing after never arriving from a flight from Ashland on Wednesday.
GCSO said Bushling left Ashland Wednesday morning, at around 9:00 a.m., and was expected to arrive in the afternoon. The Trinity County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) reported they received a request for an emergency landing, however, the plane never arrived. TCSO said Bushling's phone was last pinged in the area northeast of Dunsmuir, and south of the Hwy 89/ I-5, at around 8:00 p.m. last night.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office made a post on Facebook earlier Thursday, asking for the community's help. They asked residents if they remembered seeing a low flying airplane.
"If you heard, or saw, a low flying aircraft [on Wednesday], October 20th, between 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., from the Highway 89 intersection of I-5, south to Castella and along the I- 5 corridor, east to Girard Ridge, please call the Sheriff’s Office."
Shasta County officials said the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office, and Trinity County officials are helping search forBushling in the area of southern Siskiyou County or northern Shasta County.
