Nephron Pharmaceuticals is one of the latest locations to now offer the coronavirus vaccine booster to eligible patients that received the Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccines, coming after the FDA greenlighted the mixing of vaccines.
Nephron Pharmaceuticals’ vaccine clinic is less than a mile away from Nephron Pharmaceuticals in West Columbia. Nursing staff with the site say they are offering Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to everyone that is eligible. They’re hopeful that providing the booster shot to non-Pfizer vaccine patients will increase interest and turnout for the shots. Right now, they’re seeing forty to sixty people a day.
“The vaccine is very helpful. It protects us by building antibodies that our immune systems normally would after receiving the disease,” said Chief Clinical Officer with Nephron Pharmaceuticals Stephanie Simmonds. “Our hope is that we can help protect folks from getting the disease.”
Anyone that wants to get the booster shot – or their first doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines at the site can do so Monday thru Friday between 10 am and 3:45 pm.
“With the mix and match, that is something that is convenient for folks. That they can come to one location with both vaccines, as well as knowing now with Johnson and Johnson, that they can get two months post from the vaccine, a booster as well,” Simmonds added.
