The Whiporwil School was shut
down decades ago, but the Hauppauge School District still uses it.
On Thursday night, residents
voted against selling the property to a developer who planned to turn it into a
55-and-older community.
The vote was overwhelming
against selling the building – 1,293 voted no, to the 294 who voted yes.
