ThinkFast Interactive made its way to Elmwood High School on Wednesday to give seniors a presentation for National Teen Driver Safety Week.
The program is a high-energy, game show-like production set designed to bring awareness to destructive decisions the youth can make with Wood County already seeing a number of fatalities in the last year.
"We've had seven youth perish in four fatal crashes involving youth and that's just seven too many," said Sandy Wiechman, coordinator of Safe Communities of Wood County. "I don't know what is going on this year but we need to get with the kids. We need to get them to wear their seat belts, slow down."
The program asked questions about pop culture while also including national, state and local trends regarding driver safety.
There's a lot the organizers hope the kids take away from the program, but the main message is: Everything can wait.
"I know every kid's going to be different and I just hope that they can bring away one tidbit of things that they do in the car that they know they need to stop. And we're just going to hone in that seat belt and speed message for sure."
With funding being limited, this is the first time this program has come to Elmwood Schools. Organizers are hoping to get more funding to bring this to other schools in the area.
