Anne Marie Stanley Takes Home Top Prize at 2021 Giargiari Bel Canto Vocal Competition

The Academy of Vocal Arts has announced the 2021 Giargiari Bel Canto Vocal Competition winners. 

Taking home first prize was mezzo-soprano Anne Marie Stanley with tenor Sahel Salam winning the Audience Favorite award. The second Prize went to baritone Kevin Gódinez. 

Stanley has performed with such companies as Spoleto Festival USA, the Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, the Princeton Symphony, and the Music Academy of the West. 

Salam has performed with the Glyndebourne Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Royale College of Music.

Finally, Gódinez has appeared with the National Opera of Costa Rica, and the Opera Festival of San Luis Potosí.

This year’s competition was judged by Michael Egel, Thomas Lausmann, and Jane Shaulis, and sponsors Walter and Alice Strine, Esqs.

The Academy of Vocal Arts also announced that audiences who missed out on the competition will get a chance to relive it on Oct. 31, 2021 via WRTI 90.1FM. Moreover, audiences who listen in will get a chance to vote for their favorite singer.
