Some notes

  • After appearing on the injury report with a limited status two days in a row, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said he expects to be a “full go” on Sunday vs. Tennessee.
  • Kelce: “I do. I was itching at the bit to have every single rep that I could possibly get out there. That’s just who I am. I’m a big believer in getting my reps in during the week, making sure everything looks good or if something happens, being able to communicate with everybody out there on the field, coaches, quarterback, O-linemen, whatever it is. That communication goes a long way on Sundays or a long way throughout the course of the season. You don’t always get the same look or the look that you want and sometimes during practice, it prepares you for situations in a game that you typically aren’t thinking about, and to have those talks with the tackles and those talks with the running backs and the quarterbacks and the other wide receivers, to have that during the course of the season, it really sets you up later in the season to be ready for everything.”
  • The other limited Chiefs were defensive lineman Chris Jones (wrist) safety Tyrann Mathieu (thumb/toe) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (quad). All three are trending in the right direction to play.
  • Two limited Chiefs from Wednesday were upgraded to full participants — defensive tackle Jarran Reed (back) and offensive lineman Trey Smith (ankle), so they should be good to go on Sunday.
  • The five Chiefs listed as non-participants for the second day in a row were all to be expected. Tight end Jody Fortson had surgery on his Achilles on Wednesday and linebacker Anthony Hitchens (triceps) is unlikely to play given the team’s roster moves. Fullback Michael Burton (pec) also did not practice.
  • My expectation remains that the other two non-participants — wide receiver Tyreek Hill (quad) and left guard Joe Thuney (hand) — will play against the Titans, as they missed practice to start the week leading into the Washington Football Team matchup and went on to play.
  • Offensive lineman Kyle Long (lower leg) is now eligible to return from the Reserve/PUP (physically unable to perform) list, but he has not returned to practice.
  • Any time running back Derrick Henry makes the injury report, it’s notable. He did not practice in order to rest on Thursday. Linebacker Bud Dupree (knee) was added to the report with limited participation and now becomes a player to watch.
  • Wide receiver A.J. Brown (illness) missed his second straight practice, while fellow wide receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) returned in limited fashion. Left tackle Taylor Lewan (concussion) did not practice again.
  • It is always worth watching a kicker on the injury report. Titans kicker Randy Bullock missed practice with a shoulder injury.
  • In total, 12 Titans are now on their injury report.
