Jimmy Fallon recalls talking for 20 minutes with a fan who mistook him for Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Fallon is New York City, through and through.
When Fallon took over The Tonight Show, the iconic late-night talk show moved to its original home of New York City, the 47-year-old's hometown. That didn't prevent him from being mistaken as the other Jimmy of late-night television based in Los Angeles.
While visiting The Kelly Clarkson Show this week, Fallon explained he enjoys to walk to work because of the people-watching and only rarely getting recognized. But one fan encounter stands out in his memory:
"This was about two years ago. I was walking to work. Some girl stopped me, and she goes, 'Hey I just want to let you know you got me through a lot of tough times in my life. Watching your sketches and watching your jokes just got me through.' So I go, 'Oh, appreciate it. That's awesome. I'm happy you're here.' We talked for about 20 minutes, and then she goes, 'Can I have a picture?' And I go, 'Yeah, of course.' So we took a picture. 'Can I have one for Snapchat?' So we took one for Snapchat. I go, 'Hey, nice to meet you.' She's walking away, and as she's walking away—I swear—she goes, 'Oh my gosh! I can't believe I met Jimmy Kimmel!' Twenty minutes I was talking to this person! I emailed Jimmy and go, 'Hey, I met another one of your fans, buddy.'"
Elsewhere in the episode, Clarkson and Fallon duetted "I Got You Babe" by Sonny & Cher, and he addressed Dolly Parton's crush on him. Watch the clips below.
