Crew coach Caleb Porter has been ruled out for Saturday's game against New York Red Bulls, the club has announced.

Porter is still in Major League Soccer's health and safety protocol after testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. Porter is vaccinated against COVID-19.

Assistant coach Ezra Hendrickson will resume his duties as acting head coach for Saturday's game, as Hendrickson did in a 1-1 draw at Nashville SC on Wednesday.

Saturday's match has significant playoff implications for both teams. The Crew (10-12-8, 38 points) are three points off the final playoff spot with four games remaining. The Red Bulls (11-11-7, 40 points) are currently two points ahead of the Crew.

Porter is set to address the media virtually on Friday ahead of Saturday's match at Lower.com Field.
