EastEnders star Paul Nicholas has called for his character to return to Albert Square from the dead – because if there's one place where death is reversible, it's soapland.
Nicholas, who played Sharon Watts' biological father Gavin Sullivan, has shared his hopes for a possible return as the East End baddie, telling BBC Radio London that he's "ready and waiting" for a call-back.
Chatting to Gaby Roslin earlier this month, the soap and stage actor recalled the moment he found out his character had been bumped off off-screen. "Unfortunately, I was looking at the papers about three months ago and I found that Gavin had been cremated," he said.

"He died, apparently. The wonderful thing is that Sharon threw my ashes – and I'm her father – into a rubbish bin. I thought that was a bit strong."
Paul isn't about to stop death from getting in his way, though. "Of course, it's perfect now," he argued. "Because I can now reappear from the dead and go, ''Ello princess' and I can get another year out of them.
"So, if they're listening, I'm ready and waiting."
It's no surprise Paul Nicholas is up for a return to 'Enders, as the actor was full of praise for the soap, calling his year-long stint "a wonderful experience".

"It was great, actually. It's such a well-oiled machine, EastEnders. You don't realise how well-run it is. You get there, you have a conversation with the writers, with the producer, it's very, very well-organised," he explained.
"You slot in, you do the show, and at some point when they've had enough of you, you go... I think the actors in it are fantastic. All those actors are terrific."
EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
