Former Lincoln County Treasurer gets probation for theft

NORHT PLATTE, Neb.-Lincoln County's former treasurer has been sentenced to probation for theft.

According to court records, Shelli Franzen was sentenced to 12 months of probation after reaching a plea bargain on a reduced charge of theft by deception. Franzen pleaded no contest to the charges.

The charges stem from a July investigation that revealed Franzen had conducted numerous personal transactions on a credit card belonging to Lincoln County. Prosecutors said the transactions occurred over a six-month time frame.

Franzen immediately resigned from her position as Treasurer amid the allegations.

Court records say Franzen was sentenced to 12 months of probation.
