The new feature, introduced in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, is meant to allow developers to create and promote in-app events like game competitions, movie premieres, or live-streamed experiences. Apple says that users can discover in-app events via promotional cards on an app's App Store listing, in search results, or in editorially curated selections.

In a new developer update Thursday, Apple announced that in-app events would launch to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The company reminded developers to start creating in-app events in App Store Connect.

Apple is also releasing macOS Monterey on Monday, Oct. 25. The company will also release iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 the same week, though it isn't clear when exactly the new updates will launch.
