In the first half of the Washington Wizards’ season-opener against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday evening, former Card Montrezl Harrell appeared to get into a verbal altercation with rapper Drake, a Toronto native who was sitting courtside for the contest.

Harrell was assessed a technical foul as Drake continued to smile through the incident.

Trez downplayed the incident after the game, saying he and Drake were having a pleasant conversation until a Raptors coach decided to interject, and that he was responding to the coach when he was hit with the technical.

“Me and Drake was laughing,” Harrell said. “There was no problem. Me and Drake cool. We even talked after the game.”

Harrell will be assessed a $2,000 fine for the incident, a punishment he believes is unfair.

“I need me money back,” Harrell said. “That definitely shouldn’t of been no tech. If so, you gotta give it to me and the coach.”

The incident overshadowed the fact that Trez played a tremendous game in his Washington debut, coming off the bench to score 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting while also pulling down nine rebounds. The Wizards won, 98-83.
