Poppy Li’s army, it’s happening. Today Apple TV+ announced that Mythic Quest has been renewed for both Seasons 3 and 4. Apple’s underdog comedy revealed the good news in the only way it knows how: by utilizing technology for self-deprecation.

In a video from Rob McElhenney, the series co-creator and star calls Anthony Hopkins to tell him about the pickup. Right away it becomes clear that Hopkins has no idea what he’s talking about.

“It’s a show on Apple TV+. You were in an episode in Season 2. In fact, you got nominated for an Emmy,” McElhenney painstakingly explains, referring to Hopkins’ nomination for “Everlight.”

Hopkins then goes on to list the many, many awards he’s won. It should be noted that despite the fact he’s created and starred in two critically beloved shows, Mythic Quest and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, McElhenney has no Golden Globes or Emmys to his name. It’s all very awkward and dismissive as Hopkins repeatedly calls Mythic Quest “Mr. Quest” and Rob “Ron.” Then the legend does the most dismissive thing imaginable. Hopkins hangs up on McElhenney to take a call from Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis. Even in Apple’s official renewal announced, it’s all about the soccer show. Check out the video below.

It’s a great bit that perfectly utilizes the constant disappointment and excellent timing that’s made Always Sunny so beloved over the years years. But, as is always the case with McElhenney’s work, there’s smart nugget of truth hiding underneath the comedy. The fact is, Apple TV+ isn’t just home to one incredible workplace sitcom. It’s home to two.

Whereas Ted Lasso focuses on the surprising joys of the modern workplace, Mythic Quest excels at portraying its endless challenges. Over the course of its two seasons, the series has emerged as a deeply smart take on the unexpected struggles of office culture, from the fear that comes with actually accruing power and having no one else to blame to the pressure of finally getting your boss to notice you, only to realize you have nothing to say. Mythic Quest is a brilliant dissection of the small, daily failures that define basing your life around your dream job.

“Just like critics and audiences all over the world, we fell in love with Rob and his team’s sharp writing and full-of-heart, relatable characters that make up the world of Mythic Quest,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, in a statement. “We can’t wait for viewers to see what’s in store in the upcoming seasons of this brilliant workplace comedy.”
