The bye week for the UTEP football program is a great opportunity for players to get some rest in, especially for the 6-1 Miners that are bowl eligible for the first time since 2014.

The bye week is also a great week for these athletes to capitalize on Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals with local businesses. Two homegrown products found a way to capitalize on their NIL with a local business and UTEP supporter.

On Friday, both running back Deion Hankins (Parkland graduate) and offensive tackle Bobby DeHaro (Montwood) will be appearing at the Oscar Arrieta Agency's Fabens location for their customer appreciation celebration. Hankins and DeHaro will be taking photos with customers and signing autographs at the event.

As of this summer, student-athletes have the opportunity to benefit from their name, image and likeness. Athletes across college sports have been starting to sign endorsement deals as soon as this new policy was accepted. Last month, the Oscar Arrieta Agency worked with UTEP wideout Justin Garrett and men's basketball forward Tydus Verhoeven for a customer appreciation celebration at their Lee Trevino location. This is their latest edition of working with local athletes for NIL deals.

Miners tailback Deion Hankins, a touchdown rushing machine for the Miners, has totaled 251 rushing yards this year and scored five different times. He recently scored twice in UTEP's 19-3 win over LA Tech last Saturday. Paving the way for the running game is Bobby DeHaro, who has started every game this year on the offensive line. He is one of the most experienced linemen at UTEP and he is also a homegrown product from Montwood.

The event will be held at the Oscar Arrieta Agency (801 North Fabens Street) on Friday, October 22 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. They will be giving away free food and drinks, along with hourly raffles and prizes.
