Though frosty glass pints and hand-warming ceramics are filled over bars at opposite ends of WeHa Brewing & Roasting‘s newly opened flagship tap house and cafe in West Hartford, Connecticut, togetherness is the main offering.

The 6,000-square-foot spot opened earlier this month, serving the fruits of the on-site brewery and roastery that can be enjoyed amidst the 10-foot communal beer hall-style tables.

Lounge-oriented seating is also available by the coffee bar, where beans roasted by co-owner Cody McCormack are ground and brewed as espresso or drip offerings.

Guests can spot McCormack at the helm of a Mill City Roasters machine through a 6-foot window, while another large window allows views into the brewery, which is overseen by WeHa Roasting & Brewing Co-Owner Will Gorry.

“It was really always my idea to create this concept and a really communal gathering place,” McCormack told Daily Coffee News. “They’re both really where people can connect. They’re meant to be shared in a place where you can have a good conversation, whether it’s over coffee in the morning or a beer later in the day.”

To complement the beverages, foods at the hall include pastries delivered daily by local bakeries plus food truck fare later in the day. In the coming weeks, the in-house kitchen and bakery will begin turning out pastries, breakfast sandwiches and a menu of elevated pub grub under the direction of chef Andrew Brow.

With the ribbon now cut and regular hours settling in McCormack said the business will begin holding events such as markets and pop-ups to support fellow local start-ups, while also seeking to grow its wholesale operations.
