Jamie Foxx Schools James Corden on Pop Culture, Talks Yacht Parties With Leonardo DiCaprio: Watch

Jamie Foxx’s promo tour for his new book, Act Like You Got Some Sense, brought him to The Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday (Oct. 21). He shared a hilarious story about spending New Year’s Eve with Leonardo DiCaprio and also helped Corden out with his pop culture blind spots.

During the sit-down portion of the show, the Billboard Hot 100 hitmaker revealed that he spent one New Year’s Eve with DiCaprio, but as much as he wanted to party with the actor, he couldn’t because he was trying to be a good father to his daughter.

“We took a trip, he wanted to do a New Year’s in Australia. It’s me and my daughter and her mom, and at the same time, it’s Leonardo DiCaprio, models, it’s crazy…and I could just hear upstairs [dance music] on the plane,” Foxx explained. “I’m sitting there with my daughter and we watched Finding Nemo about 30,000 times. I could hear the party that I probably would have been all in, but I had the little one. It was sort of like my maturation, because it was tough. They even had two yachts in Australia, they had the family yacht and we was shuffleboarding and petting koalas and then you just see Leo pass by [with the party]. I was like, Titanic!”

Later in the program, Foxx helps Corden — who is at a loss for words at the dinner table when his friends start talking about pop culture — in a skit to help him remember bits from key shows, movies and events that have happened over the past few months.  He started off his piano song with Squid Game, Netflix’s most popular show at the moment.

Squid Game is a Netflix show that’s hot/ Like if Hunger Games had a giant murder robot/ Red light, green light, you lose, you die/ Hundreds of players and one old guy (that one old guy is cagey, too)/ Shoes so white, tracksuits so green/ Just tell ’em that’s what you’re wearing for Halloween,” Foxx hilariously sang.

Once Corden proved too out of touch to have any pop culture knowledge, Foxx then caught the fellow comedian up on the year’s past events, including Adele’s new music, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s relationship and more.

The “Blame It” singer continued, “When Adele comes up you just start crying/ Remember that Bond has no time of dying/ For Dancing With the Stars says Aunt Becky’s daughter/ Britney is finally free from her father/ Durst got sentence for all of his crimes/ If you run into Elon, don’t mention Grimes/ Kourtney and Travis are getting married/ Marvel’s Eternals, they just added Harry/ The Batman’s now a vampire guy/ Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is giving rapping a try/ Yeezy changed his name to Ye/ Kyrie Irving just won’t play/ Justin Bieber’s got his own line of pot/ Chalamet made Willy Wonka hot/ Seinfield‘s on Netflix, Shatner’s in space/ Lil Nas X is all over the place.”
