Apex Legends: Patch 1.82 Improves Protection Against DoS Attacks

Respawn Entertainment has shipped Patch 1.82 for Apex Legends. This update doesn’t offer much, but it does implement much-needed quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

First up, this patch resolves an issue where you can get “un-readied” when you search for a game in Ranked play. Back then, this can be quite frustrating since getting a match in higher ranks can take a very long time. Thankfully, this has been addressed.

Another annoying issue that got fixed is that doing banner poses may cause the game to freeze or crash. Apparently, this is a known issue and it is a good thing that the developers are on top of the situation and have finally sorted this out.

Apex Legends has become quite popular this year and because of that, it has been targeted by DoS attacks in recent weeks. Such attacks, for those who do not know, may either crash the game’s servers or cause really bad latency issues, among other server problems. So much so that Respawn Entertainment launched a patch that addressed the issue last month. This update just ensures that DoS attacks, if not totally prevented, will be reduced to a minimum.

Other noteworthy things in this update include Pathfinder’s Beacons tracker now working as intended, exploits that concern Rampart’s mobile Sheila - particularly the melee attacks and spin-ups - have been fixed, and memory optimizations are implemented which may help the game become more stable.
