Chris Paul named as one of NBA’s Top-75 Greatest Ever

The NBA tipped off its 75^th anniversary season with its list of the top-75 greatest players in league history and the Phoenix Suns, both current and from years past, had representation. A panel consisting of current and former players, front office executives, coaches and current and former media were asked to help create their list.

25 were announced ahead of the season openers on Tuesday followed by 25 more being revealed yesterday afternoon. The final 25 will be released today at 3:00 p.m. Phoenix time on TNT.

Of course, Chris Paul made the list. I expected him to and was pleased when it was official.

Prior to the nod, when asked about the possibility of being part of the 75th Anniversary Team, Paul couldn’t hold back his excitement.

“Ah man, it would mean a lot,” the Suns superstar said, per Duane Rankin of AZ Central. “It would mean a lot.”

It’s well deserved. It really is.

Every team he has been on has made a jump after his arrival, including our Phoenix Suns who ended a decade-long playoff drought with a trip to the NBA Finals in the very first season with him running the show.

Chris began his career being drafted 4th overall out of Wake Forest by the New Orleans Hornets, where he played for six seasons, before moving on to the Los Angeles Clippers. His six-year stint in the City of Angels was followed by two season with the Houston Rockets and one with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is beginning year two in the Valley.

CP3 was named Rookie of the Year after the 2005-06 season and has since built quite the resume.

The Point God’s accomplishments include:1

• 11 All-Star appearances
• 10 All-NBA Team selections
• 9 All-Defensive Team selections
• 6 steal crowns
• 4 assist crowns
• 2013 All-Star MVP
• 2006 Rookie of the Year

The man will no doubt be a first-ballot Hall of Famer whenever he decides to finally hang it up. In the meantime, we need to take the time to truly appreciate the greatness we are witnesses of.

Despite not winning a championship (yet, fingers crossed), his contributions have been immense and he’s widely considered the greatest floor general of his generation and is a leader and superb play maker.

Two other former Suns were named to the list as well. Congrats Chuck and MV-Steve!

Charles Barkley, who spent 4 of his 16 years in the desert, has a resume that includes 11 All-Star and All-NBA selections, a 1993 MVP award, a 1991 All-Star MVP and one rebounding crown.

Steve Nash’s accomplishments feature eight All-Star and seven All-NBA selections, two MVP awards and five assists crowns.
