TUSCARAWAS — The State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that destroyed a vacant house in the village early Thursday, according to Warwick Township Fire Chief Harold Booth.

He said seven of the department's firefighters responded to the fire at 346 N. Main Ave. after being dispatched at 2:05 a.m. They arrived to find the structure fully involved in flames.

They were able to knock down the fire in 45 minutes and remained on the scene until 6:15 a.m., Booth said.

The home was under renovation, Booth said. Two vehicles parked nearby were damaged. Vinyl siding on the house across the street, at 343 N. Main, was damaged.

Assisting township firefighters were others from New Philadelphia, Uhrichsville, Dennison and the Arrowhead Joint Fire District in Gnadenhutten.
