UNMC Event 10-20-21

NORFOLK - University of Nebraska Medical Center Chancellor Dr. Jeffrey Gold visited Norfolk Wednesday to talk with community leaders and check out the Northeast Community College of Nursing building.

Dr. Gold said he’s always impressed when in Northeast Nebraska and found that workforce development and increased collaboration is needed.

He said out of the 93 counties in the state, 90 of them are designated as health profession shortage areas where nurses, dentists, physicians and others are needed.

"You have to start somewhere and if we can start by increasing the workforce here in Norfolk, that will ultimately have a halo-effect further out across the state."

Also featured was the College of Nursing iWall and Gold said every one of the classrooms in the UNMC system has this type of interlinked technology where you can share instruction, video, and it allows students to collaborate.
