A New Star Wars RPG Is In The Works

A New Star Wars RPG Is In The Works

Another one.

A new Star Wars tabletop role-playing game is coming, adding to the pile of new Star Wars titles that are on their way in an array of forms and genres.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, slated for early 2022, is the one I am the most excited for seeing that it's going to take all of the silliness we saw in The Rise of Skywalker and give it a new lease on life. Which is more than we can say for Ben Solo.

In the early autumn, Sony's showcase revealed the rumoured remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic which is a timed exclusive for PC and PlayStation 5. It has even brought on board members of the original team so that should assuage any worries about continuity between the two versions.

"We are really excited with the opportunity of working on one of the most beloved IP in the world," said studio head Gilles Garnier about this new Star Wars tabletop role-playing game. "We want to follow in the footsteps of [Fantasy Flight Games]'s fantastic work over the years, while bringing our own vision of what a Star Wars RPG should be."

In this manner, the studio will be diving into a variety of eras that the galaxy far, far away has undergone, promising twists on established classics while offering new frontiers and new storytelling opportunities. Edge Studio is also thankful for the foundations that Fantasy Flight Games put in place.

Fantasy Flight Games is behind the Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny role-playing games, as well as board, card and miniatures games. With this new venture, former Edge of the Empire lead developer and Edge Studios RPG manager Sam Gregor-Stewart said that the team cannot wait to get stuck in.

"Star Wars has always been one of my favorite settings, ever since I was a kid," he said in the press release. "I loved my time working on the game lines Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny. Now, with Edge, I'm really thrilled to have a chance to try something new! I hope we can create something fresh for our fans, while at the same time creating something that is going to awaken the same passion for Star Wars in a new generation that I felt growing up."
