(WWJ) A Northern Michigan man is facing charges after he got lost while trying to escape police, and had to call 911.
Kevin William Tighe, 43, was arraigned in 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County on Oct. 14, and is set to appear again for a hearing next Tuesday.
Tighe, 43, was arrested on Oct. 6 after it's alleged that he broke into a couple's home in Williamsburg, east of Traverse City, according to Michigan State Police.
Just after 7 p.m. that evening, a trooper with the MSP Cadillac Post responded to a call from a woman who said she was watching TV when she saw a man walk into the living room.
At first, the woman said she thought it was her husband, but screamed when she realized it wasn't.
The woman's husband came downstairs and told the man — later identified by police as Tighe, also a Williamsburg resident — to leave.
The trooper searched the area and found Tighe in the backyard of his parents' home nearby; but when the troopers tried to speak with the suspect, he ran away into some woods.
A K-9 team was called in to help search for the suspect, but couldn't track him down.
Later that evening, however, Tighe called 911 to report that he had gotten lost and needed help, MSP said.
Tighe helped police figure out where he was, he flagged them down and he was taken to the Grand Traverse County Jail.
He faces one count of breaking and entering without permission and one count of resisting and obstructing police. Bond was set at $1,000 / 10%.
