Bruce Springsteen fans' Spring-Nut Rocktober Rendezvous coming up at Bar A

Some Bruce Springsteen fans are passionate.

Others are Nuts. 

The Spring-Nut Rocktober Rendezvous, so named for the Spring-Nuts Springsteen fans Facebook group, will take place Sunday, Oct. 24, outdoors at Bar A in Lake Como. The day will feature the live broadcast of 107.1 FM The Boss' “Springsteen on Sunday with Tom Cunningham” at 9 a.m.; a Spring-Nuts Songwriters by the Sea at 11:45 a.m. with Joe D'Urso, Jake Thistle and Matthew Aucoin; and a Springsteen setlist “that will leave you exhilarated, liberated and transformed!” starting at 1 p.m.

Admission is free but organizers ask that participants donate to the Fulfill food bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties via fulfillnj.fenly.org/drive/spring-nut-rocktober-rendezvous.

“Although we could not plan our usual Seaside Serenade this year for many obvious reasons, getting together with our friends and fellow Spring-Nuts, even on a smaller and safer level, will be amazing,” said founder Howie Chaz via email. “Julie (Chaz), Amy (Kalman) and I truly miss everyone, and we are hoping this will put smiles on many faces while once again supporting an important charity.”

The Spring-Nuts assembled at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The bigger Spring-Nuts Seaside Serenade normally takes place in the spring in Asbury Park, but has been canceled for the past two years. Attendees on Sunday must have proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.

In other Springsteen news, the Boss performed solo versions of “Working on the Highway,” “Dancing in the Dark” and “Thunder Road” Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Robin Hood Foundation benefit at the at the Javits Center in New York City. Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys and the Jonas Brothers also performed.
