Chase Masterson was Leeta on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine aired its final episode in June of 1999. Leeta (Chase Masterson) and her husband Rom (Max Grodénchik) headed off to Fereginar where Rom would become the Grand Nagus, a powerful position on the planet. Except for Star Trek-related conventions and the like, Masterson hasn’t returned to the franchise, and many fans didn’t think they’d ever see or hear from her or her counterpart, Leeta, again. But that has changed.

Masterson has now taken on two roles in Reflections, the newest update to the free-to-play MMORPG, Star Trek Online. Not only is Masterson playing the original Leeta, but she is playing the Mirror Universe’s Admiral Leeta who isn’t as friendly and kind-hearted as the Leeta we saw on Deep Space Nine.

Fans campaigned for Chase Masterson’s return to Star Trek

In an interview with Startrek.com, Masterson said that she really wanted to be Leeta in the game, and her fans campaigned for it. Leeta was the third character to be added to Star Trek Online, and this opportunity allows her to branch out as Admiral Leeta is “terrifying, ferocious, vicious and will stop at nothing to get what she wants, which is power.” According to Masterson, Admiral Leeta would “eat the Borg Queen for breakfast.”

Going from playing a former Dabo girl turned wife of the Grand Nagus to the adversary in Star Trek Online has been a treat for Masterson as she gets to play a strong role in a different way, much like Nana Visitor’s Major Kira did in the Mirror Universe as the Intendent.

More and more Star Trek actors are returning to the folds of the franchise in various ways, and it’s great to see that an actor from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which has previously been left out of any new Trek, make an appearance.

Next. We’re waiting on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters to return to Star Trek. dark
