Metroid Dread has proved hugely popular since its launch, scoring record sales in the UK and Japan.

Unfortunately, the game’s launch was not entirely without its problems.

Most notably, some fans got a game-breaking bug in the latter stages of the game.

According to Nintendo, games crashed if players destroyed a specific door with a marker.

Fortunately, Nintendo has fixed the game-breaking bug with the release of update 1.0.1 on Switch.

As you can see in the patch notes below, the issue has been resolved and other improvements have been made to the game.

Metroid Dread Update 1.0.1 Release Notes…

• Fixed an issue where, if a card marker was placed on a specific door on the map screen (destroyed the door with the radius obtained at the end of the game), destroying that door at the end of the game would cause it to force quit the game with the message “The software has been closed because an error occurred”.

• Fixed several other issues to improve the overall gameplay experience.

If you want to avoid running into the problem, make sure to download the update before launching Metroid Dread next time.

Now that the game-breaking bug has been fixed, fans can continue playing Metroid Dread without fear of losing their progress.

And judging by the early sales numbers and reports, it seems that Metroid Dread has attracted a lot of fans.

The new Metroid release is the fastest selling game in the series to date in the UK.

The game is a direct sequel to the excellent Metroid Fusion on the Game Boy Advance.

On a remote alien planet, a mechanical threat awaits that will push even the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter to the limit. Join Samus Aran on her deadliest 2D adventure yet in Metroid Dread on Nintendo Switch.

To complete Samus’ mission, you navigate your way through the depths of a vast planet filled with unique environments, dangerous danger and mysterious secrets. Use new and familiar skills to traverse these labyrinths, consult the map to find your way and send enemy enemies in your path using powerful weapons.

“As you freely explore the planet, you will come across locked doors, out-of-reach ledges, and areas too dangerous for Samus to safely enter. By acquiring power-ups and upgrades, you not only overcome these obstacles, but you also discover new paths and shortcuts through the environment.”
