[UPDATE: Wider Rollout] Third One UI 4.0 Beta Brings Redesigned Weather App, Removes Ads

UPDATE: Following the initial rollout in South Korea, the third One UI 4.0 beta update for the Galaxy S21 series is now reaching users in other countries too.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Samsung is hard at work to release the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update to its devices as early as possible. The company is currently running a One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S21 series. The beta program kicked off in mid-September. A couple of weeks ago, the Korean firm released the second beta build for its latest flagships. Now, we have another One UI 4.0 beta build coming our way, bringing a new set of features, improvements, and bug fixes.

Most notably, the Weather app got a complete redesign with the latest beta release. Samsung has revamped the UI with new elements, graphics, and animations. The third One UI 4.0 beta also removes ads from the Weather app. If you recall, the Korean firm had recently promised to remove adverts from all its first-party apps. It has now started to act on this promise.

The latest One UI 4.0 beta build for the Galaxy S21 series adds a pet lighting feature to the camera. It also replaces the overscroll effect and fixes various issues with Bixby, Samsung Keyboard, and the overall UI.

We are nearing the stable One UI 4.0 update

Along with the Bespoke Edition Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2021 Part 2 event on Wednesday also focused on One UI 4. The company talked about how the latest iteration of its custom Android skin lets you customize your device to a level that feels very personal to you. From redesigned widgets and emoji pairs to newer and improved camera features, One UI 4 has a lot to offer. And it appears Samsung is getting closer to releasing the new One UI version in the stable channel.

The official changelog for the latest One UI 4.0 beta build mentions that the new update is based on the final Android 12 AOSP (Android Open Source Project) release from Google. This likely means that Samsung now doesn’t have many new things to work on before releasing the stable Android 12 update. Perhaps one more beta release with a few tweaks and optimizations, and we might be all set. At this rate, we could see the Galaxy S21 series pick up the stable One UI 4.0 update next month. Of course, we don’t yet have confirmation, but there’s a strong possibility of it happening.

Meanwhile, if you’re a Galaxy S21 user and have enrolled in the One UI 4.0 beta program, the third beta build should arrive for your phone soon. The rollout began Wednesday in South Korea but should expand to other regions within a few days (via). As we reported last month, the beta program is available to users in China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US.
