5-Day Nationwide Forecast

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the southwest monsoon withdrawal line continues to pass through Kohima, Silchar, Krishnanagar, Baripada, Malkangiri, Nalgonda, Bagalkote and Vengurla.

With the likely setting in of northeasterly winds over the Bay of Bengal and extreme South Peninsular India, the southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw from the entire country around October 26. Simultaneously, the northeast monsoon rains are also likely to commence over southeast Peninsular India from around October 26.

Meanwhile, towards North India, a fresh western disturbance is set to affect Western Himalayan Region especially Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh from October 22 to 24. Wet weather conditions are also likely to prevail over adjoining plains of Northwest India on October 23-24.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Punjab on October 23 and over Himachal Pradesh on October 24.

Parts of Northeast India are in for heavy rains due to the presence of local cyclonic cyclone. No severe weather is expected because this area is no longer under the southwest monsoon zone as announced by IMD.

As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation is located over the south Tamil Nadu coast and neighbourhood. The system is likely to persist during the next two days. Under its influence, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls with thunderstorms have been forecast over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from October 21 to 24.

In terms of temperature, both daytime and nighttime are noted to be extreme or quite higher than normal over much of W.Himalayan, in southern Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh at least until the beginning of November.
