Beaches Fine Arts Series hosts return of VOCES8

Posted

The Beaches Fine Arts Series will bring the renowned a cappella ensemble VOCES8 back to the series with a free concert at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach Oct. 29.

Doors for the event will open at 6:45 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The program will feature a variety of performances, ranging from English composer Thomas Tallis to contemporary pieces.

Seating will be first come, first served so those wishing to attend are asked to get there early to make sure they get a good seat, as the series is expecting a large audience for the showcase.

VOCES8 will also conduct a master class at the University of North Florida as well as a program for middle and high school students during their time in the area.

The British vocal ensemble seeks to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing.

By touring globally, the group performs an extensive repertory both in its a cappella concerts and in collaborations with leading orchestras, conductors, composers and soloists.

The group has performed at many notable venues in its 15-year career, including the Wigmore Hall in London, Vienna Konzerthaus, Tokyo Opera City and Sydney Opera House.

According to Beaches Fine Arts Series Executive Director Kathy Wallis, the artwork of Ponte Vedra resident Vivien Zink will also be featured during the concert, as she will be the chosen visual artist.

More information about the event and the series in general can be found by going to beachesfinearts.org, as well as the opportunity to donate toward the local organization.
