David Gordon Green is in charge of one of two Hellraiser projects in the works, and he recently gave an update on his planned HBO series. Green is developing a series which will be a continuation and expansion on the franchise’s mythology with Clive Baker attached to executive produce.

In addition to that series, Spyglass Media is producing a film reboot from director David Bruckner (The Night House) that Hulu acquired the rights to in May. The series will star Jamie Clayton as Pinhead alongside Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, and Hiam Abbass.

Speaking with EW, Green said that the TV show is still in the works, noting, “We’ve got it over at HBO, and that’s not in script form yet, but it’s being developed.”

He said he was “excited” to see Bruckner’s film and noted, “It’s going to be fascinating because it’s a different platform, different concept, different creators, but the same properties. I’m not sure where that ends up and how that goes, but I’m very curious. It is a fun cultural experiment, right? To think there’s a crew with a concept for a series [and] a crew with a concept for a movie taking the same mythology. I don’t know, does it become like Deep Impact and Armageddon?”

The original film starred Ashley Laurence, Doug Bradley, and Claire Higgins and released in 1987, grossing $14.6 million and launching a horror franchise with several ups and downs over the years.
