Peoria police investigating potential road rage shooting in West Valley

PHOENIX — The Peoria Police Department is investigating a potential road rage shooting that occurred in Peoria at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the area of of 91st Avenue and Happy Valley Road after someone called to report the incident, according to the Peoria Police department’s Facebook page.

The alleged shooter also called and pulled off to wait for officers.

Police found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg in the roadway. There was a child passenger in his grey Dodge Charger, according to the Facebook post.

The alleged shooter, who drove a red Honda Civic, was detained, according to the post.

The wounded male was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The child was also unharmed and turned over to another family member, according to the post.

Preliminary information outlines a situation in which the Honda pulled in front of the Dodge then stopped.

The driver of the Dodge exited the vehicle and an altercation ensued at the window of the Honda. The driver in the Honda then allegedly shot the other man in the leg, according to the post.

No other information was made immediately available and an investigation is ongoing.
