Pulse survivor reacts to Parkland gunman's guilty plea, apology

MICHELLE: IT’S BEEN MORE THAN 3 YEARS SINCE 17 PEOPLE WERE MURDERED INSIDE A SOUTH FLORIDA HIGH SCHL.OO HOURS AGO, THE MAN WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER ADMITTED HIS GUILT. WESH 2’S KELSI THORUD WALKS US THROUGH THE EMOTIONAL DAY IN COURT, AND GETS PERSPECTIVE FROM A SURVIVOR OF A SIMILAR ATTACK KELSI: THE GUNMAN CHARGED WITH MURDERING 17 PEOPLE PATARKLAND HIGH SCHOOL PLEADED GUILTY IN COURT WEDNESDAY. HE MADE A BRIEF STATEMENT, YISANG IN PART HE WAS SORRY FOR WHAT HE DID AND HAS TO LIVE WITH IT EVERY DAY. The gunman charged with murdering 17 people at Parkland High School pleaded guilty in court Wednesday.He made a brief statement, saying in part he was sorry for what he did and has to live with it every day.It's an apology family of the victims said was too little too late."There's nothing he can say that's going to change anything that he did," one said. "If you wanted to do something for our families you shouldn't have killed our loved ones," another added.Brandon Wolf knows all too well what the Parkland families are going through.He is a Pulse survivor. "It is exceedingly frustrating when you're in a position like this and you know that the people who were taken from us lived beautiful full lives and those lives aren't told but the person who perpetrated the crime continues to have their face and their name splashed across every front page in the country," he said. "I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that is for them. So my mind has been with them all day long."Brandon told WESH he not only wishes the focus would stay on the victims but also wishes it would shift more to what we all can do to prevent violence like this from happening again. "It is important that we honor the people that were taken from us not with these moments in time or glimpses of justice but rather with an unwavering commitment to a world where other people don't have to go through the hell we've been through," he said.
