IFC Films has finally given us our first look at the critically acclaimed indie film, The Beta Test, thanks to a new trailer and poster. The film will be coming to us on November 5 in select theaters, as well as on-demand.
The dark satire takes a look into the world of an engaged, clean-cut, Hollywood agent who has received a suspicious and alluring letter for a clandestine sexual encounter at a hotel. Forced to wear a mask, the film agent has no idea who he has come into contact with and will soon learn that this world may not be the right one for him. As he becomes caught up in this new life of lies, murder, and infidelity, he slips further and further down into a miserable rabbit hole of his own making.
The film centers around the threatening and challenging world of climbing the ladders with the Hollywood elite and trying to get ahead while putting those around you down. As the protagonist gets closer to these lies and secrets, will he realize that he is not only destroying his own life, but also the lives of those that he claims to care for, or will he simply dive deeper until he has totally lost his humanity?
The film was written and directed by Jim Cummings (The Wolf of Snow Hollow, Thunder Road) and PJ McCabe, who will both also star alongside Virginia Newcomb. It has already been a huge hit at the Berlin International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, and currently has a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Under the IFC banner with other greats such as The Babadook, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and Blue is the Warmest Color, we are sure that The Beta Test will be another must-see indie film.
