A West Prairie School District 103 school bus with kids onboard was rear-ended by a Jeep on Wednesday, Oct. 2021, around 2:05 p.m. in rural Tennessee, Ill.
The bus was travelling southbound on East 350th at North 950th Road before coming to a stop and putting out its traffic control arm. The bus was then struck from the behind by a Jeep Liberty, driven by Logan Kissinger, 17, Carthage, according to the McDonough County Sheriff's Office.
Kissinger sustained injuries from the crash and was transported by Air Evac 144 to an area hospital.
None of the children on the school bus sustained any injuries. Approximately seven students were on the bus at the time of the crash. The driver of the school bus, Kelly D. Webster, 43, Tennessee, was treated and released from the scene.
The traffic accident is currently under investigation by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office. Citations are expected to be issued to Kissinger.
The Colchester Fire Department, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, Illinois State Police, and Air Evac 144 assisted with the scene.
